The Cow Ponies & Liar’s Trial @ Kochanski’s Sunday Matinee, Sun., 2.18.18

The Cow Ponies and Liar’s Trial, two Milwaukee alternative country bands, are back together again, playing at Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall’s Sunday Matinee. We met each other the summer of 2016 at Linneman’s when we were part of the lineup for the Gram Parsons 70th Birthday Bash that was making its way around the U.S. and Europe. The Cow Ponies, led by John Graham, and Liar’s Trial, led by Bryan Kroes, teamed up to play Kochanski’s Sunday Matinee a year ago in 2017, and man, did we have a blast! Up for a redux? We thought so! Only 7 bucks at the door. Bring a few extra clams and get you the new Cow Ponies CD, “Easy to Fall,” released a couple-a months ago on Dec. 2. Hope 2 C U!

The Cow Ponies @ Red Dot Tosa, Sat., 12.16.17

As the snow starts to fly in Southeast Wisconsin, we’re heading out to the west side of Milwaukee to play our first-ever show at Red Dot, 6715 North Avenue in the East Tosa neighborhood of Wauwatosa! No cover. Show starts at 9 p.m. and goes to 11:30 p.m.

If it’s still cold out, Red Dot will be the perfect place to warm up with some great food (Saturday is BBQ Night) and drink (choose from over 70 tasty beverages on the drink menu alone), not to mention there’s always some good-ole raucous Cow Ponies music to get yer blood circulatin’ too! Big thanks to Marty for having us.

Because we’re fresh off of last weekend’s release of our new CD “Easy to Fall,” we’ll bring some discs, along with our T-shirts and buttons (the latter handcrafted by Tom T, yo). Can’t wait to see ya!

The Cow Ponies w/ Rockabilly Rebels U.S.A. @ Kochanski’s, Sun., 10.29.17

Now that The Cow Ponies have gotten home from Racine in one piece, slept in, and had a big-ole brunch, it’s time to promote the heck outta our show with Rockbilly Rebels U.S.A. at Kochanski’s World-Famous Sunday Matinee! We’ve taken in the Matinee to see other bands we love, and it’s a blast. Our show there runs 2-6 p.m., and there are alternating sets: TCP plays at 2 and 4; RRU plays at 3 and 5. $7 cover at the door. Get yer day drinkin’ ‘n’ dancin’ on! We’re hopin’ for pretty girls and hula hoops too…

The Cow Ponies w/ The Zach Pietrini Band @ McAuliffe’s Pub in Racine, Fri., 10.27.17

We met the wonderful Zach Pietrini Band last August at Linneman’s, when we were both on the bill at the Gram Parsons 70th Birthday Bash. We’re extremely happy to say that we’re pairing up and heading down to Racine to play some alt-country and old-country and original songs at JJ’s place, McAuliffe’s Pub! The Cow Ponies’ll open things up starting at 9-ish, and Zach and the boys’ll be on stage at 10, 10:15. Mad props to Zach, whose work we adore and admire. Really looking forward to seeing you this Friday, Racine! xoxo

The Cow Ponies @ Circle-A Café, Sat., 10.21.17

This Saturday we’ll be back at our beloved Circle-A, where we had our debut in December 2015. We couldn’t believe it when we set this up, but the last time we performed was August 5! We have good excuses though: We got our new CD mastered, printed a mess of new Cow Ponies T-shirts (original art by Todd Dakins and design by Andy Stilin), and learned a bunch-a new songs — including some new originals by John Graham and Tom T. Come hang out with us at Circle-A’s world-famous and highly palatable “Alive at Eight” show, starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 10 p.m. We’ve missed you and can’t wait to see you. xo

The Cow Ponies @ John’s Dock in Racine, Sat., 8.5.17

Hey y’all: The last time we played John’s Dock, we were doing a set to benefit Thoughts for Food, the annual Racine County Food Bank benefit. Interesting night. We’ll tell you about it sometime, except you have to buy us a beer first.

Anyway, we’re heading back to John’s Dock again, this time to play out on the patio, next to Ben’s Bar and in the sea air of Lake Michigan. Start time: 8 p.m. End time: 11 p.m. No cover. We’ll bring some-a our brand-new T-shirts, which we premiered at our A-number-1 cool show at Chill on the Hill in Bay View (SML $10, XL/2XL $12). Looking forward to hanging out with our Racine and Chicago friends!

The Cow Ponies @ Chill on the Hill in Humboldt Park, Tues., 7.25.17

We are SO excited to be performing at Chill on the Hill this year, we can hardly stand it! Chill is one of the major annual events of Milwaukee’s Bay View Neighborhood Association, and all of us in the band have attended their shows, which are all outdoors at the Humboldt Park Band Shell, at one time or another. (Last year we went to see Dog House Flowers as a group and had a blast.)

Next Tuesday, July 25, our show @Chill gets started at 6 p.m. with Bruce Dean & Then Some opening up. The Cow Ponies are on next (6:30-7:30), followed by WAMI Award winners Devil Met Contention from 7:30 to 9 p.m. When Andy was there at last night’s show in his brand-new Cow Ponies T-shirt, next Tuesday was being billed as “an awesome show of Americana.”

Bring a blanket for the hill, bring something to eat and/or drink, OR support your favorite locals and buy your din-din and bev-of-choice from any one of a number of vendors that will be on hand.

Chill on the Hill is FREE. But bring 10 extra bucks in case you wanna buy one of our brand-new Cow Ponies T-shirts, on sale at the Chill on the Hill booth!

The Cow Ponies w/ JP Cyr and The Midnightmen @ Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, Sat., 6.17.17

All right, so what do The Cow Ponies and JP Cyr and The Midnightmen have in common? For starters, Western shirts, Ernest Tubb covers, and pedal steel guitar! When have you ever seen two bands with pedal steel guitars back-to-back in Milwaukee? (Keith’s is a floor model; Bill’s is a console steel.) Doesn’t happen often, friends. Well, this Saturday night you’ll get yer chance, at the fabulous Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, 1001 E. Locust in the Riverwest neighborhood of Mil-town. Hillbilly, rockabilly, Western swing, alt country, old country, cow punk…all for a mere 5 bucks at the door. Come catch some fun and raucous live music before big-bad Summerfest swoops down upon the city. Show starts at 8 p.m., with JP and the boys on first until about 9:30, and John and The Cow Ponies on likely ’round 9:45 p.m. for two sets that’ll take us all right up ’til midnight. Can’t wait 2 C ya!

The Cow Ponies @ The Sofie Show (A Benefit at the Zizzo Group), Fri., 4.21.17

Almost all of us in the band have pets, and two of us got our beloved cat Indie from the Wisconsin Humane Society about 11 years ago. He’s a Bombay, he’s gorgeous and smart and hilarious, and we couldn’t imagine our lives without him.

It is for this reason and more that we are a thousand percent thrilled and honored to be performing at The Second Annual Sofie Show, a benefit for the Wisconsin Humane Society and the brainchild of Dan Augustine, a Milwaukee designer who wanted to show props after adopting his beloved dog Sofie there.

The Sofie Show is a gallery show with art pieces for sale (created by artists all over the U.S.!), live music (us!), and beer (Hinterland!). All at the Zizzo Group, at the corner of N. Milwaukee & E. Chicago in the Third Ward neighborhood of Milwaukee. (Actual address for your GPS: 207 N. Milwaukee St.)

Much love to Lisa Ridgely for introducing us to Dan and getting us involved. We’ll be starting at 6 p.m. when The Sofie Show opens, taking a break somewhere around 7:30, then playing on until 9 p.m., when the event ends.

Suggested donation at the door: 5 bucks. Hope 2 C U there!
